FairPitch

Coach & manager guide

How to use FairPitch

FairPitch plans substitutions, runs the sideline clock, and proves every player got a fair shake. This page is the whole product — in the order you actually use it.

Who does what

Three ways in. Mix them on the same match.

Head coach

Free account. Builds the roster, writes the plan, saves the chart, texts the bench PIN, files the score after.

Assistant / manager

No account. Opens fairpitch.app/join with the bench PIN and can run the clock and subs.

Parents

No account. Home page watch PIN, or the report link after the match. They cannot touch the clock.

First session

  1. 1

Google, X, or email. After Google, open Account and save a password so you can also use email next time.
  2. 2

    Add a team

Dashboard → Team. Pick an age preset (U6 through adult). That sets format, period length, and sub rules. You can override any of it later.
  3. 3

    Fill the roster

Jersey, name, ranking 1–5, position group (GK / D / M / F), preferred spots, and whether they may play goalkeeper. Type names or paste a list.
  4. 4

Plan the match, then hand it off

Team → New game. Save the chart as an image. Text the bench PIN to a parent — their phone runs the clock. You keep coaching. After the whistle, log the score.

Roster

Open the team. The table is the source of truth for the planner.

  • Ranking1 is still learning, 5 is your strongest. The planner uses this when it has to choose who stays on.
  • Group (GK / D / M / F)Lock a player into a band so they rotate with that group. Leave Auto if you want FairPitch to infer from preferred positions.
  • Goalkeeper rulePrefer / OK / Never / Must. Kids who must never go in net stay Never. Dedicated keepers stay Prefer or Must.

Team settings at the bottom are the defaults for every new match: format, formation, halves vs quarters, how often you sub, rolling vs FIFA limited windows.

From TeamSnap

FairPitch does not log into TeamSnap. Coaches export the team roster, then import the file.

  1. 1

    Export in TeamSnap

Open the team → Roster → Export → Export CSV File. Use the team roster, not the club-wide Members export.
  2. 2

    Import in FairPitch

Open your team → Import roster → choose the CSV (or paste the rows). We take first name, last name, jersey, and position. Coaches, managers, and other staff are skipped.
  3. 3

    Set ranking

TeamSnap does not send a 1–5 ranking. Everyone lands at 3. Tap the dots on each player so FairPitch knows who to keep on when minutes get tight. Set GK to Prefer or Never if the CSV did not already mark a keeper.

Parent emails and phone numbers are not imported. FairPitch only needs who is on the pitch.

Plan a game

New game builds a substitution chart before kickoff. You can still change it on the sideline.

  1. 1

    Who’s here

Uncheck anyone missing. The chart only rotates available players.
  2. 2

    Shape

Pick a common formation or tap Custom and draw D–M–F. U6 4v4 still has a rotating GK slot.
  3. 3

    Rebuild

Preferred uses listed positions. Balanced evens minutes inside each group. Randomize shuffles the starting XI. Hover the small buttons for a reminder.
  4. 4

    Swap on the chart

Tap a name on the substitution chart, then tap who should take that slot. FairPitch replans from that window forward.
  5. 5

    Save plan

That writes the match, two PINs, and the live bench. Nothing is in the season ledger until the game is finished or you Log as planned.

Two different PINs

This is the part people mix up. Both are 6 digits. They are never the same.

Bench PIN

Assistants / managers

fairpitch.app/join — start, pause, confirm subs, score, sit players. Treat it like a spare phone on the bench. Do not send this to families.

Watch PIN

Parents

Home page of fairpitch.app only. Live score and minutes. After full time they can open the report. They cannot run the clock.

After the match, share the parent report link instead of the PIN if you prefer — no account for them either.

Live bench

This is the parent’s phone, not the head coach’s. They open fairpitch.app/join with the bench PIN, or tap Parent runs the live bench if you are testing it yourself.

ControlWhat it does
Start / PauseRuns or holds the period clock. Minutes only accrue while it runs.
Sub windowWhen it hits NOW, Confirm to make the written swaps, or Skip to keep the same XI.
GoalCredit us (pick a scorer) or the opponent (counts against the keeper).
CardYellow or red. A red takes that player out of the rotation.
BenchManual sub, sit someone, or mark injured.
Sit / OutAccident? Tap the player in the minutes list or tap Return. They go back to the bench — FairPitch does not auto-sub them on.
WaterMarks a water break on the timeline.
Next period / Full timeAt the end of a period. Full time writes the report and the season ledger.

Tap a name in the minutes list: on-field starts a sub, bench completes it, Sit/Out puts them back.

Log as planned

You already played, or nobody ran the clock. On the game page, tap Log the score after:

  1. 1

    Enter the score and kickoff

Use the real date if you are filing a past match.
  2. 2

    Name the scorers

One row per goal we scored. Assist is optional. You must pick a scorer for each of our goals.
  3. 3

    Keepers

As planned keeps the chart. Switch at half gives each keeper a half. Every quarter splits the match into four GK stints — even on a two-half game.
  4. 4

    Save to ledger

FairPitch runs the written minutes, files goals and goals against, and opens the full-time report. No live clock.

After the match

Parent report

Share or copy the link. Minutes, positions, scorers, and the sub chart. No sign-in for them.

Season ledger

On the team page: played, W / D / L, goals for and against. Per player: minutes, goals, assists, GK minutes, goals against, GAA.

Only finished games count. A saved plan that never went full time or Log as planned does not hit the ledger.

Your account

  • Password. Google or X users can still save one on Account for email sign-in.
  • Forgot password. Sign-in screen → Forgot password. Reset links expire in an hour.
  • Phone. Sign in, then use the bar at the bottom: Home, Team, Game, Guide, More. On iPhone Safari, Share → Add to Home Screen so the clock isn’t under the browser chrome.
  • Demo. /demo is a full U10 bench with no account. Nothing is saved until you sign in and build your own team.

If you get stuck

I marked a player Out by accident
Tap their name in the minutes list, or Bench → Return. They rejoin the available bench. FairPitch will not force them onto the pitch.
The parent PIN opened a “that’s the watch PIN” error
They used join by mistake. Watch PIN goes on the home page. Bench PIN goes to /join.
I need a different formation than the presets
New game or team settings → Custom. Build any back-to-front shape. Save, then rebuild Preferred.
